Recent Projects

Boreal Water Collection

Leisure Time Spring Water was acquired by Boreal Water Collection, a publicly traded company, early in 2009. The company has retained most jobs since taking over and plans to add dozens of jobs in the near future. The Partnership immediately reached out to Boreal to discuss future expansion and incentives and financing that may be available as well as training grants available through Sullivan County Community College.

Dancing Cat Distillery

The Sullivan County Industrial Development was awarded a Rural Business Enterprise Grant (RBEG) worth $295,000. The IDA will use a portion of the $295,000 grant money to purchase distilling equipment and then lease it to Dancing Cat Distillery in the Town of Bethel. The Partnership worked with owners Monte Sachs and his wife Stacy Cohen to help locate financial resources to get their project off the ground. At full build out, the distillery’s 5,000-square-foot facilities will feature a tasting room and the production of distilled spirits surrounded by a fruit orchard. The distillery will produce vodka, baby bourbon, gin, whiskey, brandy and grappa for sale to visitors and local restaurants. Dancing Cat Distillery will also offer tasting and tours.

Blooming Grove Stair Company

A business was ready to leave Sullivan County in the fall of 2008 and The Partnership played a key role in keeping Blooming Grove Stair Company (BGSC), a producer of high-quality stair and handrail systems, in Monticello. The Partnership brought BGSC principals Jesse Kehoe and Paul Graham to the table with Village of Monticello officials. It was there that both sides learned that BGSC could qualify for a Main Street Grant. Funds from the grant were used to assist in bringing the building up to code and BGSC still remains a vital part of the village’s downtown community.

Monticello Motor Club

Recently, Monticello Motor Club applied for Empire Zone Certification.  At the Zone Administrative Board meeting where it was to be decided whether or not to forward this application, members of the community rallied and spoke in favor of the Motor Club, and the Board passed the resolution.

G-Tech Park

The Green Tech Park at Sullivan County Community College is in the works, to promote the use of renewable and efficient technologies in Sullivan County and the surrounding area.  The Park will be located on 60 acres of land on the College campus.  There will be shovel ready sites for light manufacturers and distributors of green tech products.

Recently,  Environmental Technologies LLC and the College held the groundbreaking ceremony for  ETLLC’s new vertical shaft wind turbine, which will be erected at the College this fall.  Our own Tim was there, golden shovel in hand.
