Sullivan County’s Food Production Sector Continues to Grow
Sullivan County has a long history of agribusiness and food production, serving the greater New York metropolitan area while supporting jobs, investment, and regional commerce. Today, that legacy continues to evolve as local producers expand their reach into broader regional and national markets.
Companies such as Formaggio Cheese, Nonni’s, Hudson Valley Farms, Deb El, Murray’s Chickens, and others are part of a growing food production sector that serves major retailers, distributors, restaurants, and consumers beyond Sullivan County. Their products can be found through regional and national channels, helping connect Sullivan County’s agricultural and food manufacturing strengths to a much wider marketplace.
The impact is significant. The food production sector contributes nearly $700 million in economic impact and supports more than 1,500 jobs, underscoring its importance as a major driver of Sullivan County’s economy.
With continued investment in facilities, equipment, workforce, and distribution, the sector is positioned for further growth. Projections point to an additional $20 million in investment and the creation of 200 jobs over the next three years.
For Sullivan County, agribusiness is not simply part of the region’s past. It remains one of its strongest opportunities for future economic growth.
